If you are under 18, live in Bromley and need to talk to someone, you can get help from Bromley Y. You can refer yourself with consent from your parent or carer: Bromley Y - Young person self referral.

Once we have received your referral, a clinician will review it within 24 hours. If we have any immediate concerns about your safety or the safety of others, we will call you to get further information. This call will appear as a withheld number. If you have recently been referred, or self-referred, to our service we would urge you to answer the call in order to avoid delays in us helping you. If there are concerns about your safety and we are unable to make contact with you on the day, we will inform your GP about our concerns or other agencies as appropriate.

After reviewing your referral you will be offered an assessment with one of our therapists. If we can send you SMS messages, you will be able to book your initial appointment online choosing a date and time that best suits you. If we are unable to send you SMS messages, our administration team will contact you to arrange your first appointment.

This appointment allows us to learn more about your particular difficulties, consider appropriate treatment options, and agree on a treatment plan. This appointment is usually conducted over the telephone unless you have particular communication needs and require a face-to-face appointment. This first appointment will typically last between 30 and 40 minutes.

If after your first appointment, we are not the most appropriate service to meet your needs then we will put you in touch with other services more appropriate to offer you help.

To cancel or reschedule an appointment

If leaving a message with the admin team by phone or email, please give

  • your name
  • day, time, and place of the appointment
  • if possible, the name of the therapist you were due to see and explain whether you already have another appointment booked which you will attend – give the date and time if possible
    • or you do not have further appointments scheduled and would like one so need someone to contact you to re-book – it’s helpful if you can make sure you are easily contactable or let us know when and how best to contact you
    • or you do not wish / are unable to attend any further appointments. If this is an unplanned ending to therapy, your therapist is likely to contact you to check you are doing OK and have appropriate support in place, etc.

Please give us as much notice as possible (although we do understand that things can get in the way at the last minute).

Please note that due to demand for the service, we are only able to reschedule a limited number of missed appointments. Please discuss with your therapist if you have any questions about this.
